What is PCB prototype assembly?
PCB prototype assembly is the process of building a small number of assembled circuit boards with real components to verify a new design before volume production. It combines PCB fabrication, component sourcing, and SMT or through-hole assembly in a single order, giving engineers a working board to test, measure, and refine before moving to production.
How fast can prototype PCB assembly be completed?
For a typical 2-layer PCB, fabrication takes about 2–3 days, followed by 24–48 hours for SMT assembly. This means assembled prototypes can be ready for delivery in as little as 4–5 days.
What files are required for a PCBA prototype order?
Three files are required: a zipped Gerber file, a BOM in .csv, .xls or .xlsx containing (Comment, Designator, Footprint and JLCPCB/LCSC Part #), and a CPL in .csv containing (Designator, Mid X, Mid Y, Rotation and Layer), all coordinates in millimetres.
What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ) for PCBA prototype?
The minimum order quantity is 2 boards. We offer Economic PCBA for small batches (2–50 pieces).
Can JLCPCB source the components for my BOM?

What quality inspections are included in the assembly process?
All orders undergo AOI, X-ray for BGA-type packages, and visual inspection. Standard PCBA includes SPI. Flying probe testing and functional testing are available on request, while free DFM/DFA analysis is performed on every order before production.
Can I easily transition from prototype builds to mass production?
