How to generate BOM and CPL from Fusion360?
After finishing your PCB design in Fusion360, next step is to prepare and export files for manufacturing. Depending on the requirements, different kind of files will be needed for the PCB manufacturing. If you just need PCB’s to be produced, Gerber files are going to be enough. In the other hand, if you want your PCB’s to be assembled by the manufacturing house, BOM and CPL files are going to be required.
Let’s have a look at how to export BOM and CPL files from your Fusion360 PCB design project!
CPL from Fusion360
Step 1. Open Fusion360 and go to “File”-> “Open”-> “Your project”
After verifying your design, you can begin exporting required files.
Step 2. Go to "Manufacturing"-> "CAM Processor" from the menu bar, as shown in the image below.
Step 3. In the CAM Processor select "Assembly"-> "Pick and Place." On the right side, choose "CSV" for output type. Finally, click on "Export File" in the bottom right corner, then select the desired save path.
Step 4. After clicking on the “Process Job” button, you will see a window to select a location for the output files.
Once you select Output Directory Folder, you will get a message that generation has been successful.
Step 5. Go to the Output Directory Folder, you can see that files have been successfully generated.
Step 6. After adding LCSC Part Numbers, add one row to the top, and type in names of each parameter: “Ref Des”, “Mid X (mm)”. “Mid Y (mm)”, “Rotation”, “LCSC Part Number”.

Creating BOM file, also know as the “Bill of Materials” or components list, is used to let the manufacturer know, which and what kind of component goes to which location. Creating BOM file with Fusion360 is similar to already explained CPL file creation.
Step 1. Open Fusion360 and go to “File”-> “Open”-> “Your project”
After verifying your design, you can begin exporting required files.
Step 2. Go to "Manufacturing"-> "CAM Processor" from the menu bar, as shown in the image below.
Step 3. In the CAM Processor select "Assembly"-> "BOM." On the right side, choose "CSV" for output type.
If you used a generic libraries, you will have to manually add “LSCS Part number” in the excel file. If you go a step further, and create your own component libraries for the project, make sure to add “LSCS Part number” value, so that a whole project will be automated when generating files. Verify files and upload them to JLCPCB.com.
