Why Are Components Inside the Board Reported as Intersecting with the Outline?
Why Are Components Inside the Board Reported as Intersecting with the Outline?
Problem Description
As shown below, components are clearly within the board, yet the report indicates that the components intersect with the PCB outline. This seems unreasonable.
Analysis of the Cause
When we switch to the Gerber view, we find that the outline layer is set to the GM13 layer, whereas the correct outline layer should be in the GKO layer. In this position, there are shapes drawn which are mistakenly treated as the outline. If they contact components, it results in a false report.
Solution
Adhering to proper design standards is the only way to ensure accurate DFM analysis. In this case, the outline in the GKO layer should be moved to the mechanical layer. Additionally, avoid placing extraneous data unrelated to the PCB edge or internal slots in the outline layer to prevent false reports.
