Frequently Asked Questions
- 1. How many times can I get a $5 coupon?
Each customer can only claim the $5 stencil coupon once. To avoid expiration, we recommend claiming it when you're ready to order your stencil — once expired, it cannot be claimed again.
- 2. Can I really upgrade my stencil to Nano-coating for free?
Absolutely! Nano-coating is priced at just $4.72 at JLCPCB. With a $5 stencil coupon, you can get it essentially for free
- 3.When should I choose Nano-coating?
Nano-coating enhances paste release and ensures cleaner, more consistent prints. It’s highly recommended for PCBs with BGA, QFN, or other fine-pitch components.
- 4. Why is JLCPCB’s premium Nano-coating technology so cost-effective?
Thanks to a large and growing customer base in laser stencils, JLCPCB invested early in advanced nano vacuum coating equipment. This strategic decision allows us to scale production, optimize equipment efficiency, and significantly reduce the cost per coating cycle — making premium nano-coating surprisingly affordable.
- 5.Why is Electropolishing auto-selected when choosing Nano-coating?
Because together, they ensure the best results. Electropolishing smooths the aperture walls by removing burrs and slag left from laser cutting, creating a clean, even surface. This allows the nano-coating to bond more effectively and perform more consistently. The combined process improves paste release, boosts first-pass yield, and extends stencil lifespan.
- 6. If I select a Nano-coated stencil, how much additional production time will it take?
It usually takes an additional 12 hours for Nano-coating
Nano-coating Helps SMT First-pass Yield

What is Nano-coating?
A Nano-Coated Stencil utilizes advanced high-vacuum deposition technology to uniformly apply a nanometer-thick fluorosilicone polymer layer across the stencil surface and aperture walls, delivering exceptional hydrophobicity and self-cleaning ability—the water beading effect observed on the stencil surface due to its superhydrophobic properties—along with ultra-low surface friction and strong anti-adhesion for smoother paste release, resulting in significantly reduced solder paste residue, more consistent and uniform paste deposits, extended cleaning intervals, and enhanced print quality, making it an ideal choice for PCBs with BGA, QFN, or other fine-pitch components.

Why Select Nano-coating?
Boost SMT First-pass Yield Enhanced paste release and uniform print definition contribute to consistent solder deposition and improved first-pass yield.Minimizing common issues like solder bridging, solder balls, and insufficient solder.(See the right-hand picture as an example→)
Reduced Stencil Cleaning Frequency The nano-coated underside creates a superhydrophobic surface that repels solder paste, minimizing residue and reducing the cleaning frequency. Cleaning intervals increase from every 3–5 prints to every 20–60 prints, boosting productivity and reducing downtime.
Extended Stencil Lifespan Nano-treatment optimizes the material's crystalline structure, resulting in a coating hardness of 400–450HV, which extends the stencil lifespan by 10–30%.
Ultra-Precise Printing Nano-coating is applied to the surface of laser-cut stencils, achieving an aperture accuracy of ±5μm and the surface roughness is as low as Ra 0.08–0.15μm—ensuring flawless paste release and superior SMT results.
