JLCPCB Supports Phoenix Contact in a Mega Project with PCB & SMT Services

Oct 23, 2025

Introduction

JLCPCB, a global leader in rapid PCB manufacturing and SMT assembly, partnered with Phoenix Contact to support a new cross-sea tunnel and bridge system. Phoenix Contact was responsible for the control and ventilation systems of a critical pump room, while JLCPCB provided comprehensive PCB design, manufacturing, and assembly services. Together, they streamlined the development of high-reliability industrial control systems for this large-scale engineering effort.

Challenge

The project’s unique cross-sea environment posed significant challenges to electronic systems. Constant exposure to waves and seawater risked causing abnormalities in motor currents, voltages, and other critical control parameters. Ensuring the PCBs and control modules could withstand such harsh conditions without failure was vital to maintain the safety and reliability of the pump room’s ventilation and control systems.

Solution

JLCPCB provided precisely assembled 4- and 6-layer PCBs with high-performance components to support Phoenix Contact’s high-speed PLC system, capable of millisecond-level signal processing. Protective isolation and rigorous testing ensured stable performance in harsh environments. When seawater surges cause abnormal motor current or voltage, the system issues real-time warnings and initiates automatic protective actions.

Results

The pump houses support water supply, firefighting, and seawater discharge, protecting key infrastructure and enabling land-sea operations. JLCPCB’s integrated approach helped reduce production time, minimize errors, and ensure the robustness required for critical infrastructure controls. As a result, Phoenix Contact successfully implemented its control systems, contributing to the seamless operation of the pump room ventilation and control functions in the mega project.
